“We are very excited to have the golf course back open,” said Black Mountain and Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce director Cheryl Hyde at the ribbon cutting event. “I can’t tell you how many people come in and ask us how much longer until it reopens. Thank you guys for making this happen, because it was a big joint effort.”

Golf Course repair progress report
The Town of Black Mountain has invested more than $135,000 in repairing the town’s municipal golf course. This is more financial investment in the recovery effort than any other aspect of recovery, other than search and rescue operations and critical infrastructure.
The Back 9 is open for play as of June 24, 2025
Culvert & cart path repairs
Irrigation system restored
Pro Shop renovated and reopened
Ongoing repairs and what’s ahead
Repairs to the golf cart barn, cart paths and bridges on the Front 9 will be underway in a few months. The Town is waiting for obligation of funds for this work. Soon, a temporary building will be onsite to house equipment. This building will be reimbursed by FEMA.
The golf maintenance building was substantially damaged and located within a regulatory non-encroachment zone. It must be demolished and relocated in compliance with FEMA standards. This work is underway and fully reimbursable under federal disaster assistance.
New leased equipment is beginning to roll in, allowing Black Mountain to open our Back Nine and keep it properly maintained. Due to months without irrigation, equipment, and the ability to spray, our greens will take time to recover and get back to their standard quality.
Please be patient. This is what recovery from a catastrophic storm looks like.
Tee time!
We can’t wait to welcome you back to the course! Ongoing updates will be available on the Golf Course website.
