Art blooms this June in Black Mountain, NC
Summertime in Black Mountain is awash in the art of nature. In celebration, Black Mountain Center for the Arts is hosting Art in Bloom 2025, a joyful series of artful events featuring workshops, a yoga flow class, garden tour, art demonstrations, a live floral design exhibit, and a special exhibit featuring works by River Arts District artists.
Enriching lives through art and community-building
Since 2000, Black Mountain Center for the Arts has been bringing visual and performing arts shows and educational programs to the Swannanoa Valley. Proceeds from Art in Bloom ticket sales help support the myriad of community arts activities that the Center provides year-round. Get your tickets now at blackmountainarts.org/artinbloom.
Supporting Asheville’s River Arts District Artists
On June 2, the Black Mountain Center for the Arts opens a very special exhibit that features works by artists from Asheville’s River Arts District. The District suffered tremendous damage during Hurricane Helene, and many artists lost their entire portfolio of work. The exhibit runs through June 18. The artwork in this special exhibit will serve as inspiration for twenty area floral designers, who will be creating arrangements for exhibition at Black Mountain Center for the Arts on the weekend of June 20-22.
The big weekend: Garden Tour, Plein Air, and Floral Design exhibit
Art in Bloom will be in full bloom on June 20 and 21.
Garden Tour: This self-guided Garden Tour will take you on a journey through seven stunning private gardens in Black Mountain. This isn’t a typical tour of homes—it’s a celebration of how thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces can become sanctuaries of beauty, function, and peace. From whimsical cottage plots to more formal design, each garden featured in this year’s Art in Bloom paints a unique and joyful picture of nature through the eyes, hands, and talents of those who have lovingly cultivated them.
Live art demonstrations: While you’re strolling on the Garden Tour, you’ll see artists creating "en plein air," which means "in the open air." These artists will be demonstrating the practice of painting on-site, in the natural environment, to capture the specific (and fleeting) lighting, colors, textures, and atmosphere of the moment.
Floral design exhibit: On June 20-22, view a sumptuous floral design exhibit inspired by River Arts District artists. Ikebana and Western design styles will be featured.
