Surrounded in crisp mountain air, golden autumn leaves and a festive community atmosphere, the second annual Black Mountain Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 26 is a great way to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday weekend with a little movement, gratitude and togetherness!
Two fun ways to participate
The Black Mountain 5K Turkey Trot
The professionally designed 5K course winds through Black Mountain's historic downtown and picturesque neighborhoods, with mountain views and welcoming storefronts along the way. Chip timing keeps results accurate for those chasing a personal best, while casual runners and walkers can enjoy the festive atmosphere at their own pace.
The Wishbone Fun Run
The family-friendly 1-mile route welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. Bring the grandparents, the little ones, and everyone in between! Strollers and leashed furry friends are welcome, too. It's a chance for all generations to get moving and make holiday memories together.
Support our community
A portion of every registration fee for the Black Mountain Turkey Trot supports four nonprofit organizations that have a big, positive impact in our region:
Bounty & Soul – Tackling food insecurity and promoting wellness through food, farms, and community health in Black Mountain and Swannanoa.
Brother Wolf Animal Rescue – Working across county lines to save more lives through creative, strategic, and impactful animal rescue programs.
Irene Wortham Center – Providing residential and day services for individuals with developmental and socioeconomic challenges in a caring, supportive environment.
Into Light Project – A national nonprofit that shares the stories and portraits of people who have lost their lives to drug addiction through powerful public exhibitions.
