Art blooms this June in Black Mountain, North Carolina
Summertime in Black Mountain is awash in the art of nature. In celebration, Black Mountain Center for the Arts is hosting their 20th annual Art in Bloom, a joyful series of artful events featuring two gallery exhibits, garden-inspired art workshops, live floral arrangements, and a garden tour featuring demonstrations by working artists.
Enriching lives through art and community-building
Black Mountain Center for the Arts brings a plethora of visual and performing arts shows, exhibitions, and educational programs to the Swannanoa Valley, and since 2006, Art in Bloom has been a joyful celebration of their mission. Proceeds from Art in Bloom ticket sales help support the programs and activities that the Center provides year-round.

The big weekend: Garden tour, live demonstrations, and gallery exhibits
Art in Bloom will be in full bloom on June 19 and 20.
Garden Tour: This self-guided Garden Tour will take you on a journey through seven stunning private gardens in Black Mountain. This isn’t a typical tour of homes—it’s a celebration of how thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces can become sanctuaries of beauty, function, and peace. From whimsical cottage plots to more formal design, each garden featured in this year’s Art in Bloom paints a unique and joyful picture of nature through the eyes, hands, and talents of those who have lovingly cultivated them.
Live “Plein Air” art demonstrations: While you’re strolling on the Garden Tour, you’ll see artists creating "en plein air," which means "in the open air." These artists will be demonstrating the practice of painting on-site, in the natural environment, to capture the specific (and fleeting) lighting, colors, textures, and atmosphere of the moment.
Tour the gallery: Meanwhile, back at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, you’re invited to experience the stunning creativity of Ikebana and Western floral designers who have created arrangements inspired by artworks in the galleries.
Bonus exhibit: Art from the Garden
Remember those paintings you saw being created, right before your eyes, while you were taking the Art in Bloom Garden Tour? You’ll be able to view them on display at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts from June 26 - July 24, 2026.
